Pegasus

The word Pegasus is translated to “spring forth.” It was given this name because the creature first emerged from the neck of Medusa after Perseus beheaded her. Also the Pegasus constellation arises when the season of spring begins to mark the start of warmer weather and rain showers.  The Pegasus is also a character in the story of Bellerophon who rides the winged horse to slay the chimaera beast. After the battle, Pegasus flies to rejoin the Gods in heaven and bucks off Bellerophon, sending him back down to earth.
